Perfect Blues 

Nelson Island meets the Camera nerds.  

What a weekend we ended up at Nelson Island and everyone got camera crazy. Here is Cal and his super duber lense.

I just caught a big huge bumble bee, how often do one of these things just walk across your living room carpet. I decided it was too interesting to kill so after I safely glassed and cardboarded it I took some pictures.  

Poker for You

I played my very first game of poker tonight. I also had 3 glasses of red wine which may have influenced my decision making process. So I went all in against Dave who usually likes to bet big and I got him to fold. Then I tried to get Colin to fold but I didn't have enough money and he played to stay in the game and I lost to a straight flush. What are the chances of a straight flush, like what are the chances, that never happens. My 2 Queens usually would have taken it but tonight Colin has my money and some of Quentin's which I borrowed to get Dave to fold. What a nice husband he didn't even know what I had. I was so close to winning but alas their is always the chance that someone gets a spectacular hand like that and takes it away. I think I like this poker game but I think tonight when we go to bed Quentin is going to give me a half hour lecture on playing more conservatively which I don't know if I can do because it's more fun to actually play the game then to sit their and wait for perfect hands. Anyways I like poker now, and before I didn't really care to much about it.

Rwanda

A lot of the time when I hear about missions trips I listen but I don't really remember much of what they say. Today however at church they showed a video of Rwanda and I was interested. I started to read our little Sunday information brochure as the guy spoke and low and behold they have a blog so now I'm really interested.
I think what attracted me to the people in the video was their attitude. When you see these people and they actually seemed really happy although when I look at their situation it seems like they have nothing. The video described their situation but instead of showing children living in ditches with flies buzzing around you saw adults singing in church and piggeries and the starting of a village. For the first time I thought I really see myself doing some sort of missionary work one day. I'm not saying that I want to go down and be a preacher woman in the little local church that would so not be me, but I would love to go and help get a village organized. I've never really built something but I could maybe paint and hammer some nails. I'm actually starting to doubt as I write this what I could actually contribute.... I'm just joking I'm sure the more able hands the better, any help is better than no help.
So one day I think I'm going to have to do something like this, Quentin and I can sacrifice our tropical trip sitting on a beach for a week bored silly for maybe building in the tropics with insects around our food. We'll see.

Kim Cattrall

This morning as I woke up and before I get ready for church I kept thinking about all the comments I received Friday night about myself looking like Kim Cattrall. I literally had four different guys say, "hey you know who you like? That actress........." I try to be nice and not finish it for them, because I really have heard it way too many times. However I do think it's a good pick up line and I'm not surprised that guys try to use that as an opening line to talk to me. Cabby made the point that it's hard to talk to strangers and she's right and I'd rather have some drunk guy trying to talk to me than standing alone with nothing to do. Not that I find myself standing alone with nothing to do. Oh and for the record Quentin was supposed to come with me on Friday night but he refused to go out because poker wasn't nice to him that night and he was in a grumpy mood. His friends are improving their skills and now winning isn't so easy.
Anyways back to Kim Cattrall, I've never really wanted to meet a celebrity or anything, or I won't necessarily go out of my way, but I'm starting to wonder about this Kim lady. I think if this, "you look like Kim" continues then I'm gong to have to meet her one day. What I would say to her I'm a bit unsure, would I just say hello and wait for her to say you look like me. Or could I say strangers consistently tell me I look like you what do you think. Or could I say I heard you looked like me so I thought I'd come see in real life. That might be kind of snotty but funny. Most likely I'll just freeze up and be, "oh hello and say nothing". I don't know if I'll ever will meet this lady but I think I'm going to have to watch out for her.
Thinking about the positives of looking like an actress, I'm lucky because she has unlimited resources for hair makeup, clothes. Whatever it is, if it makes her look better she can afford it. So I can just check out her looks and if it looks good on her it will probably do okay on me.
I don't mean to go on and on about Kim Catrrall but when your reminded quite often it keeps you thinking about it.
Oh and for the record my Mom thinks I look way different than her.

This is the worst picture of me in the world, but it makes me laugh. I look like a pregnant bat woman who's about to jump out the window and fly away. Besides the pictue I love this dress Quentin bought it for me from Guess and it's very comfortable and most of the time flattering.
