Paris Je T'aime

Quentin and I watched this movie tonight. It's composed of many different short stories and this in my favorite. Such a wipe your face with your hand before anyone sees.

First Ultra Sound

Q's photoshop edit.

Well today we had our first look at Baby MacAulay. What an experience, I can't believe something is alive and growing inside of me!!!!!!!!

The ultra-sound tech thought from the measurements that I'm between 21 and 23 weeks, so instead of 4.5 months pregnant I'm 5.5 months pregnant. Wow that's fantastic news too me, that means the baby will come sooner and pregnancy will be over. I'm so excited but geesh it's painful, however my doctor thinks I could have gallstones which is making it worse.

Yah no gallstones, but I feel like I have a cracked rib, soooo painful!

Pregnant Christina

I love this shot of Christina! I've come to like her style more and more as she's matured. She looks fantastic and super sassy on this cover shoot. It makes me excited to do my prego shots. :)

We took a long walk last weekend in Lynn Valley. It was absolutely beautiful and I'm reminded that I need to go hiking more often!

17 Weeks, 4.25 months

Wow so I'm becoming massive in my books, I can't bend over to tie my shoes, and my back hurts sooooooooo much from all the extra weight. It's really exciting but today in particular I wish pregnancy didn't hurt so much!

Dan Aykroyd Serenades The Baby

We visited my girlfreind Vicky today at the White Rock liquor store and was introduced to Dan Aykroyd as he was promoting Patron. He decided to sing the baby a little song, so sweet!

Pregnant Me 16 weeks, 4 months!

I finally got around to taking and posting my pregant profile picture. For some reason I haven't been looking forward to taking these pictures like I might have thought.
So far this all seems very surreal, my body is changing right under my nose and I can't believe it!

Lots of people are telling me that I look quite big for 16 weeks, but I don't know either way. I am starting to get the feeling though that I'm soon to become a really big massive pregnant lady!

Wind Storm at White Rock Beach

A windstorm swept over the lower mainland this weekend. It left most of us in White Rock powerless but ended up being a great excuse to go out for breakfast and watch the waves crash to shore.

Sunset Girls

This weekend I decided to try new tool on photoshop. After a frustrating day playing with extraction tools, then layer masks, the eraser tool seemed easiest. I really have so much to learn in photoshop but the challenge is fun.

Trying to Increase Folate

Another day, I tried really hard to increase my veggies today, hench the light broccoli soup and spinach salad. I wanted to get the recommended intake of folate and I almost did, but iron and fibre were still pretty low.
This is very typical of me, finding a game to play with food and then I become obsessed for awhile. I know I can figure this out. :)

Also I took 6500 steps today which included a short walk with my Mom and her dog before bed, without that I might have only walked 4000. My goal should be about 10,000 a day, I obviously have some changes to make.

Pedometer

I was inspired last night by my dinner guest to try a pedometer to see how much in an average work day I walk around. I have a feeling it's pretty low considering I'm in a nice warm office and it's rainy and cold outside everyday. So this morning I stopped in at Canadian Tire and purchased this little gadget to hopefully motive and inspire me to move. I find it's so much easier to be motivated to when you have something that shows you've reached your goals. I'll see how it goes.

Figuring out what to eat!

BabyFit.com

I found a website today that helps pregnant women track what they eat. It's different than most diet plans because it tells you if your getting enough of a few nutrients such as calcium, protein, folate, fibre, iron, etc. I've done a meal plan for what I've eaten today and so far I've had way more protein than required but not nearly enough folate or iron. I'm taking supplements of coarse so I assume I'll be okay but I find this chart very interesting. It's so hard to know if your eating correctly and at this point I want to ensure I getting not only enough calories but the right ones.

If you click on the picture you can see the meal plan. As you can see it's very easy eat more than you allowed calories. Especially on a rainy Sunday at home.

Afterlife

Our friends Scott and Eli recorded this song, and I'm really liking it. Way to go guys and thanks to you Quentin has gone out and bought tons of computer audio equipment.

Recent Images

Went to the Red Onion with my Dad in Kerrisdale for hot dogs last week. This used to be the big treat when we we're kids, and it was just as amazing as it used to be!

I Saw DJ Champion recently, I really love this act with all the different guitar players and their melodies.

I don't really know what this is or how it works, but I think it's cool and want one.

My cat Muffin insists on doing this every morning when I sit down to check my email. I love her to bits but Muffin................

I'm not a huge Radiohead fan but song Weird Fishes/Arpeggi is stuck in my head tonight. It's so soft.

Fall

Driving through Kerrisdale last week I had to pull over and take a few pictures in the residential streets. I absolutely love the gigantic trees that line the streets, it was so beautiful to see all the leaves turning color and falling. It reminded me that I love our four seasons and can't wait for wintry snow too.

Oh Darling!

For some reason I've finally decided to take up my father in-law on guitar lessons. It's going well and I'm realizing my practice schedule has been weak and it's time to up the practice hours. Recently I've been noticing an nice electric guitar at my father in-laws house, which seems very mysterious and way too cool for me at this point for me, so now I really really want to try.

Today this Beatles song from the movie Across the Universe has really caught my ear, so I'm thinking this is the goal. I only have to learn ummm 11 chords.... so intimidating but I know I can do it if I practice. I'm hoping I can pull off a good white girl version of this song. Yes I'm very excited, and hopefully the baby won't be deaf tone after all this.

Sex and The City: The Movie

I can't WAIT to see this movie. I want to gather every girlfriend I have and go see it at the same time one night. (K that might be a little impossible but in theory, very fun.) Hey maybe they should have an all girls screening somewhere. Mostly importantly I want to see everything our beloved girls are wearing I hear the costume budget for this is huge!
This flower is so adorable, I wish we could all wear these!
Ohhh Carrie and Big, I'm hoping for a wedding!!!!
It's been long enough, it's time!

Shopping and Eating In Seattle

Here's my Mom leading the way to our first couple of shops. After a few hours I was tired but somehow my nearly 60 old mother has leaps and bounds of energy as usual. God must have given her a fountain of energy I don't know anyone else who can go as long as she can.

I love this store I bought 2 pairs of fabulous red shoes both for under $20, and a ton of cute tops.

My Mom introduced me to the Russian Piroshky Bakery and now I'm a bit obsessed. We bought them at the store fresh out of the oven, and ate them while still steaming and warm. The first thing I did when I came home to my computer was google piroshky recipes. I'd like to find a seasoned turkey one, it would be lighter than the traditional beef, and I could make a few dozen and then store them in the freezer for snacking. I'll have to post pics once I actually attempt to make them.

Saturday night I was craving crab, so my Mom and I found the best seafood restaurant, "The Crab Pot". I absolutely loved how they served the food. They would bring you a bucket of crab with a a few red potatoes and some corn on the cob all mixed up. My Mom and I decided to just feast on the crab though. They even gave us these mini hammers and cutting boards to crack our crab legs. My only regret eating all the crab. was that the rest of our family wasn't there to join us. I just didn't seem right that we had all this fun without them and I missed everyone else. Seemed like a great family restaurant to me.

I ate so much crab, that we even left some unfinished and I'm sick of it now!

Bolivian restaurant, my Mom and I didn't actually eat here but I'd never seen a restaurant from this country before. A very long time family friend who used to cook for us came from Bolivia so I was interested.

Seattle has a fantastic public market. Geez I wish the world wasn't so big and that all the wonderful places in the world were in walking distance. Is that too much to ask?

Allison and Ivan - Dance to Annie Lennox

Watched a re-run for the TV show, “So You Think You Can Dance” tonight. The number to Annie Lennox – Why was so moving I found it on You Tube and decided to post. Ivan and Allison the dancers are so young and cute! Then they perform this mature number and it’s very touching. Watch Allison jump, I absolutely love her individual style.

Sorry if this isn't as good on You Tube as it is on the big screen.

Funny Pregnancy Cartoons

I bought this little cartoon book with a few pregnancy tips, it had me in tears laughing and reminded me not to buy a thong bikini this year.

Yes I don't believe in any type of recording device in the delivery room!

Nesting

What a busy week for me, I'm happily in the midst of reorganizing and cleaning the entire house. I had a cleaning lady visit on Wednesday all the carpets cleaned Thursday and today a gardener is mowing the lawn and weeding the garden. I even spent half an hour this morning washing baseboards and window sills before heading to work. Next up if I'm still inspired I might try some painting. Why is nesting so much fun!

Small Update

Well it’s been an interesting few weeks. I am feeling nauseated but I think it’s more from the prenatal pills. This last week I’ve been switching around my vitamin cocktail trying to find something that doesn’t make me sick about half hour after taking it. I’ve never been a vitamin person so having to stomach all this is seemingly making me very cranky. That’s another thing I’m noticing, my moods are more intense and I feel really aggressive. Quentin and I had a fight not so long ago and I slammed 2 doors at 1 in the morning, and I never do that. Sorry honey I’ll have to try better not to lose my cool.

My weight seems to be stable right now, I gained a bit from taking a camping trip and eating huge meals for a few days but I know the pregnancy wasn’t to blame for that. So far my weight gain seems to be under control now and I’m considering writing down everything I eat for a week and then visiting a nutritionist just to make sure I’m consuming the right about of calories and receiving the proper nutritional requirements. Luckily for me my Mom is still a healthy weight after having three children so hopefully I’ll be like her. In case I take after my Dad’s side of the family however, I’m going to try to take precautions and just be really aware.

In terms of exercise well yesterday I went for a three hour bike ride from False Creek to the end of Spanish Banks and I pretty much died. I need to get a gel seat and maybe just go more often so I’m not so out of shape. I like biking for exercise though, it’s low impact which is good for the knees, you get to look around at all the new places you can visit while biking and the cutest part is seeing all the families on bikes with babies on the back. I’m hoping Quentin and I will be able to take our babies with us and go for family exercise adventures. Of coarse this won’t happen for a long time but it’s still just one of those things to look forward to.

Outdoor Movie

We watching the movie Goonies in an outside theater the other night. We brought our blankets and pillows and cuddled under the stars. It's defiantly a favorite way to watch movies in the summer.
