Recent Images

Went to the Red Onion with my Dad in Kerrisdale for hot dogs last week. This used to be the big treat when we we're kids, and it was just as amazing as it used to be!

I Saw DJ Champion recently, I really love this act with all the different guitar players and their melodies.

I don't really know what this is or how it works, but I think it's cool and want one.

My cat Muffin insists on doing this every morning when I sit down to check my email. I love her to bits but Muffin................

I'm not a huge Radiohead fan but song Weird Fishes/Arpeggi is stuck in my head tonight. It's so soft.

Fall

Driving through Kerrisdale last week I had to pull over and take a few pictures in the residential streets. I absolutely love the gigantic trees that line the streets, it was so beautiful to see all the leaves turning color and falling. It reminded me that I love our four seasons and can't wait for wintry snow too.

Oh Darling!

For some reason I've finally decided to take up my father in-law on guitar lessons. It's going well and I'm realizing my practice schedule has been weak and it's time to up the practice hours. Recently I've been noticing an nice electric guitar at my father in-laws house, which seems very mysterious and way too cool for me at this point for me, so now I really really want to try.

Today this Beatles song from the movie Across the Universe has really caught my ear, so I'm thinking this is the goal. I only have to learn ummm 11 chords.... so intimidating but I know I can do it if I practice. I'm hoping I can pull off a good white girl version of this song. Yes I'm very excited, and hopefully the baby won't be deaf tone after all this.

Sex and The City: The Movie

I can't WAIT to see this movie. I want to gather every girlfriend I have and go see it at the same time one night. (K that might be a little impossible but in theory, very fun.) Hey maybe they should have an all girls screening somewhere. Mostly importantly I want to see everything our beloved girls are wearing I hear the costume budget for this is huge!
This flower is so adorable, I wish we could all wear these!
Ohhh Carrie and Big, I'm hoping for a wedding!!!!
It's been long enough, it's time!

Shopping and Eating In Seattle

Here's my Mom leading the way to our first couple of shops. After a few hours I was tired but somehow my nearly 60 old mother has leaps and bounds of energy as usual. God must have given her a fountain of energy I don't know anyone else who can go as long as she can.

I love this store I bought 2 pairs of fabulous red shoes both for under $20, and a ton of cute tops.

My Mom introduced me to the Russian Piroshky Bakery and now I'm a bit obsessed. We bought them at the store fresh out of the oven, and ate them while still steaming and warm. The first thing I did when I came home to my computer was google piroshky recipes. I'd like to find a seasoned turkey one, it would be lighter than the traditional beef, and I could make a few dozen and then store them in the freezer for snacking. I'll have to post pics once I actually attempt to make them.

Saturday night I was craving crab, so my Mom and I found the best seafood restaurant, "The Crab Pot". I absolutely loved how they served the food. They would bring you a bucket of crab with a a few red potatoes and some corn on the cob all mixed up. My Mom and I decided to just feast on the crab though. They even gave us these mini hammers and cutting boards to crack our crab legs. My only regret eating all the crab. was that the rest of our family wasn't there to join us. I just didn't seem right that we had all this fun without them and I missed everyone else. Seemed like a great family restaurant to me.

I ate so much crab, that we even left some unfinished and I'm sick of it now!

Bolivian restaurant, my Mom and I didn't actually eat here but I'd never seen a restaurant from this country before. A very long time family friend who used to cook for us came from Bolivia so I was interested.

Seattle has a fantastic public market. Geez I wish the world wasn't so big and that all the wonderful places in the world were in walking distance. Is that too much to ask?

Allison and Ivan - Dance to Annie Lennox

Watched a re-run for the TV show, “So You Think You Can Dance” tonight. The number to Annie Lennox – Why was so moving I found it on You Tube and decided to post. Ivan and Allison the dancers are so young and cute! Then they perform this mature number and it’s very touching. Watch Allison jump, I absolutely love her individual style.

Sorry if this isn't as good on You Tube as it is on the big screen.

Funny Pregnancy Cartoons

I bought this little cartoon book with a few pregnancy tips, it had me in tears laughing and reminded me not to buy a thong bikini this year.

Yes I don't believe in any type of recording device in the delivery room!

Nesting

What a busy week for me, I'm happily in the midst of reorganizing and cleaning the entire house. I had a cleaning lady visit on Wednesday all the carpets cleaned Thursday and today a gardener is mowing the lawn and weeding the garden. I even spent half an hour this morning washing baseboards and window sills before heading to work. Next up if I'm still inspired I might try some painting. Why is nesting so much fun!

Small Update

Well it’s been an interesting few weeks. I am feeling nauseated but I think it’s more from the prenatal pills. This last week I’ve been switching around my vitamin cocktail trying to find something that doesn’t make me sick about half hour after taking it. I’ve never been a vitamin person so having to stomach all this is seemingly making me very cranky. That’s another thing I’m noticing, my moods are more intense and I feel really aggressive. Quentin and I had a fight not so long ago and I slammed 2 doors at 1 in the morning, and I never do that. Sorry honey I’ll have to try better not to lose my cool.

My weight seems to be stable right now, I gained a bit from taking a camping trip and eating huge meals for a few days but I know the pregnancy wasn’t to blame for that. So far my weight gain seems to be under control now and I’m considering writing down everything I eat for a week and then visiting a nutritionist just to make sure I’m consuming the right about of calories and receiving the proper nutritional requirements. Luckily for me my Mom is still a healthy weight after having three children so hopefully I’ll be like her. In case I take after my Dad’s side of the family however, I’m going to try to take precautions and just be really aware.

In terms of exercise well yesterday I went for a three hour bike ride from False Creek to the end of Spanish Banks and I pretty much died. I need to get a gel seat and maybe just go more often so I’m not so out of shape. I like biking for exercise though, it’s low impact which is good for the knees, you get to look around at all the new places you can visit while biking and the cutest part is seeing all the families on bikes with babies on the back. I’m hoping Quentin and I will be able to take our babies with us and go for family exercise adventures. Of coarse this won’t happen for a long time but it’s still just one of those things to look forward to.

Outdoor Movie

We watching the movie Goonies in an outside theater the other night. We brought our blankets and pillows and cuddled under the stars. It's defiantly a favorite way to watch movies in the summer.

Boating the Strait of Georgia!

I had a chance to run one of my Dad's boats this weekend, nothing feels more like summer.

Gorgeous boat, I decided to snap a picture from my dingy as I drove by.

My super cool brother, he doesn't need to stand behind the wheel to drive the boat.

Quentin and Michelle

Another very cool boat.

Kevin and Kim's Party

I had fantastic time being really really silly at Kim and Kevin's White Trash Birthday party, last night. And I've decided I'm never growing up, silliness forever, or at least on Saturday nights.

Darcy showed up with the best accessory, a cassette walkman, awesome!

Shannon had the best red pants!

Jolene was picked up at 108th and King George for the event.

The best White Trash couple, Shannon and Darcy!

Toronto for the Weekend

Thanks to Candice, Quentin and Herbal Essence, the shampoo company. I had the chance to visit Toronto for the first time. Candice and I really loved it! What a fun city, with a great night life and excellent shopping.

Part of Herbal Essences trip we won included a night at the Much Music video awards. So Candice and I shopped from the moment we arrived and she picked up the cutest yellow dress, perfect for summer what a great find!

Pink pumps, they look fantastic but hurt like hell. I've decided I will one day start my own line of beautiful stylish but danceable shoes. Their has to be a way!

Me taking pictures.

CN tower, we had lunch up there.

Video Candice put together of our trip, thanks Candice!

I ran into the cutest little guy today, but when no one was watching we caught him being a little icky! I snapped this picture really quick before he was snatched off to be sanitized by Mom.

Paris Je T'aime

I'll be heading to see this film tonight, I know it will make me miss Paris.

...

What a great movie! It reminds me to feel happy and appreciate being in love.

One particular part of the story is about the man who's about to leave his wife in a restaurant and then... Actually I don't want to ruin it, but after the movie, the director of this segment was in the audience and she stood up and did question and answers after, which was very very cool. She said she grew up were they filmed her particular segment and in a restaurant were she used to work a man would always come in and he looked like he was going to leave his wife, so she decided to make a film about it.

Natalie Portman is in another segment, and she of coarse is adorable! I love how's she's just so young and fresh and has the biggest reactions for everything.

Paris itself was beautiful in this movie, I thought they showed it perfectly, and I thought the mail lady was hilarious with her terrible accent. I can only imagine how I must have sounded, with my few random fracais words.
